At Lowmead State School, our K–6 students follow the Australian Curriculum, while our State Delivered Kindergarten program aligns with the Queensland Kindergarten Learning Guideline (2024). Core learning areas including English, Mathematics, Science, and HASS are taught in small multi-year groups, allowing for explicit instruction and a student-to-teacher ratio often better than 4:1.
Specialist programs include Music and Indonesian (LOTE), both delivered in P–2 and 3–6 groups, Digital Technologies through the Queensland Virtual Academy, and Dance, supported by Footsteps Dance Academy resources to enhance implementation within the Arts Curriculum. HPE is taught throughout the year and includes swimming programs in Bundaberg. Additional opportunities include Religious Instruction and district school sports.

Student wellbeing is a priority and is supported by weekly visits by our chaplain, who works with small groups to develop core skills including emotional regulation, respect, resilience, persistence, and effective communication.
Our school’s approach is distinguished by small-group learning, access to specialist teachers, and a strong community focus, providing students with high-quality learning experiences in a supportive environment.
