Australia Day Floods

The recent inundation caused by Cyclone Oswald triggered devastation and distress to people in the tiny community of Lowmead.  This time was heart breaking to the staff and students at the school.

The school lost 99% of its resources and was closed until the 25th February.  We opened one day; then closed due to roads being flooded ensuring no access to the school.

During this time the parent community rallied to the aid of the school.  Volunteering their time to help in the clean up. Parents, staff and students help to get us back on track so the children could get back to school.

Caring and generous people from all over Australia have donated books, essential equipment and money to help our little school get back on its feet.  The staff of QBuild have also worked tirelessly to ensure that the school is operational.

I would like to take this opportunity to thank everybody who has helped in some way to ensure that Lowmead students are not disadvantaged by this devestation.

From the bottom of my heart, thank you!
